MANLY ANTIQUE CENTRE
MOSER STYLE WINE GLASSES
So stunning in fact they
have been hired out
for both The Great Gatsby movie and now
A Place to Call Home television series who
both required 'something special' for
important scenes in their show/movie.
They are the quality of
Moser in every sense of
the word but are unmarked.
They will date to the 1920s.
They scream quality and
are very heavy for their
height of 17cm each one weighing in at roughly
337 grams each (ie 1/3 kilo!)
The shape and style is
reminiscent of an
18th century cordial glass.
The Illusion part comes when you look at the base of bowl
it is incredibly thick – about 2cm in the centre
which is the narrowest section and it then increases
at the edges forming a real bowl shape in the base of
the wasited cylindrical body.
This 'illusion' effect was often done so it looks like
there is more in the glass than their really is.
The gold scrollwork covers
almost the entire bowl
of each glass and there is a hand etched design
within this gold work.
The gold has tarnished a bit with age but
otherwise they are in excellent condition
with no damage of any kind.
Each glass stands
17cm high and as
mentioned weighs more than a third of a kilo.
