MANLY ANTIQUE CENTRE
This stunning large silver
plated bottle coaster dates
to the late 1800s or early 1900s, emulating the earlier Sheffield
The silver plating and turned
oak base is in excellent
condition which is unusual.
The only fault is the separation in the lower seam.
The weight of full decanters or magnum bottles
for which it was used to 'coast' are the culprits for this.
It's probably fixable but really it functions perfectly
well as is and you don't really notice it anyway.
It's WAY too beautiful to let this sign of age
and use put you off.
It is profusely decorated
with grape laden vines -
totally appropritate for its function of course.
As mentioned it is LARGE
measuring 16.6cm across
the base and 8cm high (wider at the top with
decorative grape border).
There were two originally but now there is only one.
