WORLD WAR II TRENCH ART TANKARD
NZ ONWARD

DESCRIPTION

This is a fabulous Trench Art tankard
detailing in pictures and script the
passage of war for New Zealand personnel
from February 1940 (Maadi Camp Egypt)
to May 1 1945 (Germans surrender
to General Freyberg at Trieste).

Inscribed along the bottom of the mug is:-
”BRASS USED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF
THIS TANKARD WAS SALVAGED FROM
THE BATTLEFIELDS OF NORTH AFRICA”

It takes us from Egypt to Greece
to Crete to Tobruk to Syria
to Alamein to Tripoli to Italy
to Rome to Florence to Venice
to Trieste and other battles
in between.

The tankard is 12cm high and
it is in great condition
with no faults as such.
The engraving has been intentionally
rubbed to show the gold colour
underneath the silver plate
as part of the decoration.
Looks a bit patchy in the photos
but is much better in real life.

SORRY,
I'VE SOLD!
