LATE 1940s EAMES EMERSON WALNUT PLYWOOD RADIO
DESIGNED BY CHARLES EAMES

Part of a huge collection of early to mid 20th century radios and radiolas
we have recently purchased.

Condition is very good overall but each radio will have the odd furphy at
least so see complete description below and check out the photos.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Rare late 1940s valve radio with molded Walnut plywood case
Maker is EMERSON of USA and it was designed by two of the
most famous 20th designers - Charles and Ray Eames.

We think the model number is 588A
They often have the model number stamped on the back but this
one only has:
EMERSON RADIO AND PHONOGRAPH CORPORTATION, N.Y., U.S.A.
At the top are the numbers 700023 F 182 but this doesn't relate to the model.

It was made for the American market hence has a plug for 110 volts.
NOT COMPATABLE WITH OUR 220 VOLT SYSTEM WITHOUT A TRANSFORMER
(which you can buy from J Cars for about $40.00).

CONDITION:

We had it professionally serviced so of course it works well & has a great sound.

The dial knobs are sympathetic period replacements but not original to this radio.

The molded plywood case has a walnut finish and is in excellent vintage condition.
