FRENCH 19TH C AUGUSTE MOREAU
BRONZE FIGURAL CLOCK (af)

A fine example of a French 19th century bronze figural clock on onyx base.
Signed Aug. Moreau it is finely cast with fabulous detailing throughout.
In fact there is no part of the young musician's anatomy you can fault
(from the front or the back) and the plinth base is stunning all by itself.

As can be seen it has two condition issues.
The small harp has been broken and there is a solder repair
and some idiot has polished the bronze patina off it.
This can be rectified - I believe - but it still looks great.

The good points are that it is working although its running
a little fast so it needs an adjustment and it has a key.
The decorated clock face is not damaged but perhaps a little faded
and the ornate gold gilded hands are in sparkling conditon.

He stands 38cm high (15 inches)
