ALMOST ANTIQUE
FRENCH LOUIS XVI HAND PAINTED CABINET

A lovely early to mid 20th century example of high French style furniture influenced
by the gorgeous 18th century Louis XIV or XVI period furniture.

A half round or demi-lune cabinet commode console cabinet which has been
decorated with hand painted scenery on the front and sides
but the figures on the front are transfers.
It is also profusely decorated with gold gilt metal work (now faded) in high Rococo style.
The top is finished with a contoured piece of milk glass that in my opinion offsets this
this stylish French antique style cabinet more elegantly than the tradition marble.
The timber is a combination of walnut with Kingwood cross-bandings which is traditional.

It is also a very functional piece with two shallow drawers in the top perfect
for housing cutlery or linen and two doors below which open to reveal a large
storage space for anything you like including a TV.

It measures 128cm wide by 92cm high by 52cm deep.
Is in excellent vintage condition and we have had a new key cut for it.
The glass has fine scratches from use but not visible unless you stand in front
of it moving your head around to get the light to hit it just right.

Although not technically an antique it is still not the sort of piece that
comes along very often - well, not to us anyway - and so is a great find.
