ART DECO CHEMIST SHOP WEIGHING SCALES

These are great! Pure Art Deco design at it's best.
This set of weighing scales sat at the front entrance of the local chemist shop.

Most people didn't have scales at home in this period of time -
long before takeaway food & doses of daily stress
big enough to kill a rhinoceros so most people didn't have weight issues.
(Ain't progress it grand)

Anyway, I digress.
This fabulous set of enamelled scales were made by the
Bousche Scale Co - Sydney NSW
They of course weigh in pounds and stones are still fairly accurate even today.
It is no longer necessary to put a coin in - that was changed at some point.
The enamel is in good original condition albeit with some minor damage
as would be expected of a genuine piece and the weighing platform
retains the original black and white tiles
