1920s AUSTRALIAN HAMMEL
CAST IRON GAS RADIATOR
for a large room

We don't get one of these every day.
An original Australian made gas radiator by
Hammel Australian Radiator Co. Sydney Aust.
first patented on 14/9/1927

Looks like something you'd see in a New York Brownstone
with the remnants of the original gold paint still on it.

This is a large version measuring 82cm wide, 25cm deep & 81cm high.

Probably came out of a hotel foyer or something of this size originally.
As far as we know it was used up until recently so should have been
converted to natural gas.
The gas heats water to steam inside the heater which radiates heat out
to the room it in - hence the name Radiator.

The regulator is still in place (see photos) but the Gas fitter installing
it will need to check it out first before connecting it up.

It is cast iron and HEAVY and will take at least two men to move it.

This is a rare beast and if you have an old house or commercial premises
in need of heating and a bit of style you can't let this baby escape.
