MANLY ANTIQUE CENTRE

ANTIQUE LADIES DAVENPORT THAT
WILL STORE A LAPTOP WITH EASE

A most unusual Victorian ladies writing desk on stand.
We do refer to it as a Davenport but as there are no
lower drawers so this is technically not correct -
more like a desk/whatnot.

It's very pretty and small so not much space required
to house this lovely but functional piece of furniture.
It dates to the last quarter of the 19th century and
is made from walnut with a gilded leather desk insert.
The top inlaid flap opens up to reveal slots for stationery
(no photos of this section) and the writing slope below
also lifts up to reveal storage and small drawers.
This section EASILY houses a laptop and the two
shelves below would take a small printer or your modem etc.

Condition is good overall but if you look closely at
the lovely walnut veneers there are a few minor issues
here and there - nothing too obvious though.
This is about 130+ years old so this is to be expected.
The leather insert has been replaced in recent times
so its all good.

The desk stands 99cm high at the back and 75cm at the front is 46cm deep,
the desk section is 53.5cm wide and the shelves below are 51cm wide.

It is an extremely elegant piece but not overly fussy in design
with subtle walnut veneers , burr walnut edging and satinwood inlays
and of course won't take up much space so is a good piece for modern living.

I'VE SOLD!
