HUGE BRISTOL BLUE LIDDED COMPORT DISH

Huge 19th or possibly early 20th century
cobalt blue footed deep comport with lid.
These items are generally referred to as
lidded Bonbon dishes or Candy jars depending
on where you come from but this one
is so large it is virtually a table centre
as it stands just over 30cm (or 12") high
and 17.2cm (6 5/8") across the mouth of the body.

Clearly a hand blown piece of glass as can be
seen by the rough pontil mark under the cone
shaped foot.
The stem has a knop at the top which would
date it to the 19th century in style at least.

It is hand gilded with a free-hand floral and
scroll decoration.
The gilded decoration has worn at the back
from handling and the rim gilding is all
but gone but overall it is good everywhere else.

This is an impressive piece of antique glass
which has survived in incredible condition
with NO damage or even the slightest edge
nibble anywhere.

GLASS IS ALL EXCELLENT
